To millions of people, Beyoncé, is the pinnacle of female success, the ideal of feminine beauty, grace under fire, and stalwart perseverance. Her subject position is valuable as a heroic counter-narrative that challenges the racist, societal expectation that an African American woman is a victim or object of historical narratives, rather than a subject. In this piece, in an obvious state of duress, I model myself after her Bob Fosse-inspired music video performance of the song "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It), with unintended effects.
